Jammu, July 22
Ten more deaths, all from Kashmir Valley, were reported during the past 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir , taking the coronavirus toll to 273 in the UT. J&K has recorded 453 cases in the past 24 hours.
As per the official bulletin issued on Wednesday evening, 453 new cases were reported, 101 from the Jammu division and 352 from the Kashmir division.
A total of 152 more coronavirus patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals — 37 from the Jammu division and 115 from the Kashmir Valley. With 453 fresh positive cases, Covid counts in J&K has reached 15,711.
Out of the 15,711 positive cases, 6,831 were active cases, 8,607 recoveries and 273 deaths, 20 in the Jammu division and 253 in Kashmir.
The official bulletin further said out of the 5,37,891 test results available, 5,22,180 samples had tested negative till July 22. Of the total 15,711 positive cases in J&K, 3,605 were reported as travellers, while 12,106 were others. The highest-ever 165 positive cases were reported from Srinagar district, followed by 62 cases in Kulgam. Rajouri district in the Jammu division recorded 47 cases on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, after closing Vijaypur hospital, the authorities have ordered complete lockdown of Samba and Bari-Brahamana tehsils of Samba district. The lockdown has already been imposed in Vijaypur tehsil of the same district from Monday.
In view of the latest spur in Covid cases, Samba District Magistrate Rohit Khajuria has ordered complete lockdown in Samba and Baribrahmana tehsils from July 23 to July 26.
The district administration has strictly warned that any body found violating the order will be dealt with firmly.
