Rajouri, May 22
With two more testing positive for Covid on Friday, including a woman, the number of cases in Rajouri district has reached 10.
Out of the eight earlier cases, four have recovered and the remaining are under treatment at the Government Medical College & Associated Hospital (GMC&AH), Rajouri.
“The woman had a travel history to Gurugram while the man came from Mumbai and both were in administrative quarantine,” said Sher Singh, Additional District Magistrate.
Now, the Rajouri district has six active cases. However, with the ease in lockdown curbs and return of migrant labourers, students and others from outside the UT, a spurt in positive cases can’t be ruled out in the near future.
Official sources said out of the 5,456 persons who arrived home till Thursday, the samples for 4,442 were sent for testing.
“As many as 3,085 samples tested negative while the reports for 1,352 are awaited, 62 people are in hospital quarantine and 970 in administrative quarantine” said Mohd Nazir Sheikh, District Magistrate.
With another person testing positive from Surankot area, the tally in Poonch district has risen to five.
Few days ago, three persons had come to Surankot from Mumbai. All were quarantined and later one tested positive.
“Today, during re-sampling of the remaining two, one tested positive and another negative,” official sources said.
