Won’t let ultras, stone-throwers walk free: Shah
Launching attack against the National Conference-Congress alliance, Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said both these parties wanted to release stone-throwers and terrorists. However, he assured the public that the BJP won’t let this happen.
He reiterated that talks with Pakistan would not be initiated until terrorism was completely eliminated from J&K. “Let me be clear, we will not hold talks with Pakistan till terrorism is completely eliminated from J&K. The Opposition wants to restore trade with Pakistan through LoC and release stone-pelters and terrorists. BJP assures you, no terrorist will walk free in J&K,” said Shah during a rally at Nowshera, from where the party’s UT chief, Ravinder Raina, is contesting.
While addressing public — mostly Paharis and Gujjars — in Noswhera, Shah said, “The Congress, NC and PDP deprived you of your reservation rights for years… PM Modi decided to give reservation to the Pahari community.”
Today was the second day of Shah’s visit to the UT. He said after forming government in J&K, the saffron party would issue a white paper to expose the role of the ‘three dynastic parties’. He said that leaders of these three parties — including the NC, PDP and the Congress — had ‘biryani’ with terrorists.
He said that when reservation was given to the Paharis, NC’s Farooq Abdullah started provoking Gujjars that their reservation would be taken away.
“I had promised in Rajouri in 2022 that reservation for Gujjar and Bakarwal communities will not be impacted even by one per cent due to the reservation for Paharis, and we have kept that promise,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that Gujjars who already enjoyed reservation had opposed the quota to Pahari ethnic community under Scheduled Tribe category. However the UT administration separated the quota of both the communities under the ST category in J&K.
Continuing his attack on Opposition, Shah said, “The Congress and the NC have said that they will reconsider reservation given to Pahari, Gujjar-Bakarwal, Dalit, Valmiki and OBC communities. Rahul Gandhi goes to America and says that reservation is not needed now. I want to tell Rahul Gandhi that we will not let you touch reservation.”
Shah claimed the NC wants to rename Shankaracharya as Takht-e-Suleiman and Hari Parbat as Koh-e-Maran. “Nobody has the power to make such changes and the two hills in Srinagar will be known by their names till eternity,” he asserted.
