Rs 1.10 cr released for 75 self-help groups
Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala, Amit Kumar Panchal, today released about Rs 1.10 crore for 75 self-help groups formed in the district under the Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission run by the Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Department to start their own business.
Panchal said under the mission, self-help groups were formed in the villages and funds were provided by the government from time to time. He said revolving fund amounting to Rs 30,000 and community investment fund amounting to Rs 50,000 per group was given by the government so that the social and economic level of the women associated with the groups could improve.
He appealed to the women to join the mission and form more groups and encouraged them to take maximum benefit of this scheme.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Virender Pal Singh Bajwa said according to the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India, loans from banks are provided to such groups.
