The Kapurthala police conducted a special drive against drug peddlers in the wee hours of Saturday at Bootan village, which is infamous for smuggling of narcotics.

Kapurthala SSP Rajbachan Singh Sandhu said more than 100 cops searched various suspicious places, during which seven unauthorised mobile phones, 100 kg of illegal liquor and five motorcycles were recovered.

He said an FIR had been lodged against Sukhdev Singh, a resident of Bootan village, Kapurthala, under the Excise Act at the Kotwali police station. He said such campaigns would continue in the entire district.
