11 involved in Phillaur clash arrested

In a swift action against public disorder, the Jalandhar Rural Police have arrested 11 persons involved in a violent clash that went viral on social media. The video, widely circulated across various platforms, showed individuals engaging in a fight with deadly weapons near the Jalandhar Bypass railway line in Phillaur. The police have also recovered a country-made pistol, a cartridge, a spent cartridge, and sharp-edged weapons used in the incident.

The arrested accused have been identified as Pawan Kumar, Gurmukh Ram, Bunty, Simranjit, alias Simma, Ajay, Raj Kumar, Sandeep Gupta, Ankus, Anil, alias Golu, Anarjit, alias Kanwa, and Vijay, all residents of Phillaur. Several other unidentified individuals involved in the clash are being traced.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar Rural, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said the incident had caused panic and unrest. Immediate action was taken under strict surveillance and a case was registered at Police Station, Phillaur, under Sections 194(2), 191(3), 190, 115(2), 126(2), 118(1), 109, BNS, and 25-54-59 of the Arms Act.

SSP Khakh further elaborated that the operation was executed under the supervision of SP, Investigation, Jasroop Kaur Bath, and DSP, Phillaur, Sarwan Singh Bal. The team, led by Inspector Sanjiv Kapur, SHO, Phillaur, acted swiftly to arrest the accused before the situation could escalate further.

The arrested individuals have been presented before the court and police remand has been obtained for interrogation.

Further Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused and ascertain the motive behind the clash.
