12-year-old dies in car accident
The cases of death due to rash driving are on the increase in Nawanshahr. A 12-year-old died due to rash driving in Sadar Nawanshahr. The incident took place on Monday evening.
One Narain Ram, a daily wager from Sadar Nawanshahr, in his complaint to the police said he and his sons, aged 12 and 5, were going to Naimajara village when the incident happened. They were walking towards the village.
"Suddenly, a white car coming at a high speed hit the 12-year-old from behind and he fell on the road," Narain Ram, the father of three said in his statement.
As per information, the child died on the spot. Until now, no arrest has been made in this case. The police said the identity of the driver was unknown and it is not clear which car hit the child.
"We have checked the camera as well but we could not find anything. We have also taken information from Behram Toll Plaza. The investigation in this case is on. We will soon nab the accused," the police said.
The post-mortem was done on Monday. The case under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (deals with the punishment for causing death by negligence) of the BNS has been registered against the unknown.
