1,217 participate in blood donation camp in Phagwara

In a display of social responsibility and humanitarian spirit, as many as 1,217 youths donated blood at the 31st annual mega blood donation camp organised by the Hindustan Welfare Blood Donors Society at Maharaja Palace, Phagwara.

The camp was inaugurated by former Union Minister Som Parkash, who hailed the overwhelming participation of youth and described the donors as the “real champions of humanity.” Under the leadership of Society President Pandit Rahul Sharma, the initiative once again highlighted the Society’s steadfast commitment to humanitarian service. Certificates of appreciation were distributed to all donors, acknowledging their selfless contribution.

The event saw the presence of several prominent dignitaries, including Anita Som Parkash, AAP District President Gurmeet Singh Lubana, former Minister Joginder Singh Mann, Phagwara MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal and Hoshiarpur Municipal Commissioner Jyoti Bala Mattu, who all lauded the society for upholding a noble tradition of community service.

Also in attendance were former Civil Surgeon Dr Kailash Kapoor, General Secretary Vitin Puri, Vikram Gupta, Neeraj Bakhshi, Harjinder Gogna, Gopal Loomba, N K Sharma, Lucky Bhakhri, Naresh Kohli, Dr Anju, Ranbir Kumar, Prem Gupta, Jugnu Sharma, Jivan Chaudhary, former councillor Kulwinder Kinda and Pritpal Kaur Tuli, all of whom lent their support to the cause and added significance to the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Som Parkash praised the society for inspiring the younger generation to engage in humanitarian work with dedication and zeal.

Other speakers echoed his sentiments, describing the donors as “true social heroes” who not only save lives but also set an example of compassion and responsibility for others to follow.

With 1,217 units of blood collected in a single day, the camp emerged as one of the largest in the region, reaffirming the Society’s status as a beacon of selfless service.
