127 doctors attend workshop on good clinical practices

The Civil Hospital under the guidance of Medical Superintendent Dr Geeta and Civil Surgeon Dr Jagdeep Chawla and Dean Academics Dr Satinderjit Singh Bajaj organised a comprehensive workshop on Good Clinical Practices (GCP) here recently.

The workshop brought together 127 doctors from the Civil Hospital and private sector from diverse backgrounds including healthcare and research sectors. The aim was to enhance participants’ understanding of GCP guidelines, ensuring ethical conduct of clinical trials and protection of human subjects involved.

Through interactive sessions, expert presentations and case studies, attendees gained valuable insights into the principles and practices governing clinical research.

Key highlights of the workshop included in-depth discussions on protocol development, informed consent procedures, safety monitoring, and regulatory compliance. Participants also engaged in practical exercises to reinforce their knowledge and application of GCP principles in real-world scenarios.

The workshop, organised by the Department of Diplomate of National Board (DNB), helped in professional development of individuals involved in clinical research, fostering a culture of ethical and high-quality clinical trials. Dr Bajaj said it was for the first time that any workshop of 4 CME hours had been conducted at the Civil Hospital. Dr Raman Gupta, member, Punjab Medical Council, Dr Deepak Chawla, president, IMA, Minhas, secretary, Red Cross, and Dr Chanjiv Singh were also present in the conference.

Dr Bajaj was organising chairman and Dr Paramjit Singh, Dr Varinder and Dr Surjit Singh were organising secretaries. The speakers for the conference were Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics, at DMC Hospital and Medical College. Dr Jagminder Kaur Bajaj, professor and head of the pharmacology department from PIMS, Jalandhar, and Dr Megha Sood, professor pharmacology from PIMS.
