The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has cracked 13 cases of snatching in the city, leading to the arrest of three individuals and recovery of 13 mobile phones.

According to police officials, they were alerted following a snatching incident on August 28, where a victim’s wrist was broken with a datar (a sharp weapon) during an attack at Maqsudan Chowk. The two accused involved in the case, Varun and Binni, were recently arrested. The investigation continued, leading to the arrest of the third suspect, Ankit, residing in Basti Danishmandan, Jalandhar.

With Ankit’s arrest, the police were able to link the trio to 13 other snatching incidents across different areas of Jalandhar. Commissioner Swapan Sharma revealed that the police had recovered 13 mobile phones, a scooter and a datar used in the crime. He said the arrest of three persons was a step towards curbing snatching incidents in the city.
