140 playgrounds to come up under MGNREGA: DC

Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal on Wednesday said 140 sports grounds and 23 anganwari centres would be constructed under MGNREGA in Kapurthala district .

Taking a review meeting with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Dr Nayan and BDPOs regarding the ongoing development works under MGNREGA, Panchal instructed the BDPOs to ensure that the development targets set by the government were achieved on time.

He said the MGNREGA scheme would be reviewed every fortnight, besides the officials from the Rural Development Department had been asked to supervise the development works personally. He said funds worth Rs 22.50 crores have been spent during the financial year under the MGNREGA scheme in the district by arranging nearly fourlakh daily workers.
