Speaking on the occasion, Manoranjan Kalia said, “Dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, penned by Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay, the event highlights the inspiration it has given to crores of people to serve Mother India. The song resonates with unity, heritage and national pride.”

Kalia added, “The history of Vande Mataram is fascinating. It is not just a song, but a resolution that troubled the British. It was first published in the literary magazine Bangadarshan on November 7, 1875. Dr Rajendra Prasad mentioned it while addressing the Constituent Assembly on January 24, 1950. The song played a pivotal role in India’s freedom movement.”

BJP leader Sukhwinder Singh Goldy congratulated all on the occasion, noting that Vande Mataram was musically composed by Rabindranath Tagore and has become integral to the country’s civilisational, political, and cultural consciousness. He said the song inspired India’s independence movement, upheld national pride and unity, and became a symbol of the freedom struggle. Goldy added that the British had banned the song because of the wave of patriotism it stirred among the people.
