16 visually impaired operated upon

Hoshiarpur, January 15

Continuing the mission to light up lives of visually impaired, the Rotary Club, Hoshiarpur, arranged corneal implant of 16 corneal visually impaired patients in December 2020. Rotary Club chief Gopal Vasudeva told the members that out of 16 patients, 13 were from Punjab, one each from Haryana, Himachal and Uttar Pradesh.

Secretary Parveen Palial said the patients were operated upon by Dr Rohit Gupta of Guru Ka Langar Eye Hospital, Chandigarh, and Dr Shakeen Singh of Amritsar.

Project chairman Manoj Ohri said all the operations were done at the club’s expenditure and medicines were provided to the patients free of cost.

Ohri said the operation was undertaken in collaboration with the Rotary Club Plano Metro, Texas, US.

He appealed that if anyone comes across any person who’s visually impaired due to corneal blindness, they should contact the Rotary Club, Hoshiarpur (Mid Town). Assistant governor of club Satish Gupta said service to humanity was the main aim of the Rotary Club.
