In two separate cases, the Commissionerate Police Jalandhar has arrested two persons and seized 15 cases of illicit liquor, 61.5 kg of poppy husk and two cars from their possession.

Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur said the police were continuously taking strict action to curb illegal activities and keeping a close watch on drug traffickers in the city. She said Inspector Sarabjit Singh, heading the Crime Branch police team, apprehended Sushant, alias Cheeku, of Mohalla Gobindgarh during patrolling near Sodal Chowk. On searching, the police seized 15 cases of illicit liquor of different brands along with a car from his possession. An FIR has been registered under Section 61-1-14 of the Excise Act at Police Station Division No. 8.

In another operation, the Crime Branch team intercepted a suspicious person near Focal Point Chowk and during the search, recovered 61.5 kg of poppy husk along with a MUV. The accused was identified as Harjit Singh of Haripur village.
