Hoshiarpur: Two youths died and one got injured in separate road accidents in the district during last 24 hours. Jarnail Singh told the police that he was going to work with his brother Amarjit Singh. A tractor going ahead of them was suddenly stopped, injuring them. Amarjit died during treatment. Satpal of New Model Town, said his son Bhajan was returning after supplying milk. When he reached near a junk shop, the driver of a car parked there suddenly opened the door and Bhajan fell. His son was admitted to the hospital where he died.

1 more held for encroachment

Nakodar: The Mehatpur police have arrested the fourth person on the charge of encroaching panchayat land at Baghela village. The accused has been identified as Shinda Singh, a Bute Dian Shana village. DDPO and Baghela village panchayat had complained to Jalandhar SSP that the accused had encroached on the panchayat land of the village. A case was registered against the accused.

Villager booked for assault

Nakodar: The Mehatpur police have booked a villager on the charge of assaulting a co-villager. The accused had been identified as Saawann Singh of Shohle village. Partap Singh of the same village complained to the police that the accused attacked and injured him.

Migrant dies by suicide

Shahkot: A migrant died by suicide on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Budayee Lal (35) of UP and presently living in Bahmannian village. Bina Kumari, wife of the deceased, told the police that her husband ended his life by hanging. The police handed over the body to the family after the post-mortem.

37-year-old man missing

Shahkot: A 37-year-old man of Malsian village has been missing for the last three days. The victim has been identified as Jatindar Singh went from his house on September 30 and did not return home. IO said a missing report has been registered.

Lahan seized, one booked

Nakodar: The Nakodar police booked a villager on the charge of brewing illicit liquor. As much as 30 kg of lahan (raw liquor) and utensils for brewing it were seized from the accused Manpreet Singh, a resident of Mussewal village. He managed to escape from the spot. A case has been registered.

Snatcher nabbed, buyer booked too

Hoshiarpur: The police have arrested a snatcher and booked an accused for buying the stolen gold ornament. Prince of Sukhiabad was arrested by the police. He accused told the police that he had snatched a gold earring from a woman and had sold it to Sanjeev Kumar of Bahadurpur. The police have booked the buyer.
