2 injured as police party opens firing after being attacked at Dasuya village
A group of people allegedly attacked a police party trying to nab drug smugglers at Budhobarkar village in Dasuya of Hoshiarpur district on Tuesday night. This led to the police opening firing in self-defence, leaving two people injured.
Dasuya DSP Balwinder Joda said the 112 helpline number received a complaint about drug trade in the village, following which SIs Sarabjit Singh and Sukhdev from Dasuya police station went to the village.
They approached former sarpanch Bhupinder Singh, whose wife is the current sarpanch, and sought his cooperation.
Bhupinder started agruing with the cops while people gathered there and allegedly attacked the two cops, who opened fire in self-defence and as a result, two people were injured.
The two cops, who also received injuries, have been admitted to a government hospital at Dasuya.
A case has been registered against 24 people.
