Manpreet Singh, alias Mani (30), of Denowal Khurd was returning around 7 pm after dropping his mother-in-law in Pandori. As he approached the canal bridge, a stray cow suddenly appeared on the road. In an attempt to avoid it, his bike collided with another oncoming motorcycle, driven by Bobby Bagla (29), of Makhsoospur, and his wife Anju Kumari riding pillion.

Locals rushed the three injured to a nearby private hospital, where, after first-aid, they were referred to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hospital in Nawanshahr. Manpreet Singh succumbed to his injuries there.
