In a week, three deaths due to rash driving have been reported in Nawanshahr.

A man died after the bike he was riding was hit by a high speed SUV from behind today. The deceased has been identified by Balbir Singh.

His cousin Mohit Ram from Sadar Nawanshahr in his complaint said he along with his brother Balbir Singh were going to their home when the accident happened. "The moment our bike was hit, Balbir fell on the road and he suffered serious injuries. The SUV driver fled. People helped us reach the hospital where my cousin was brought declared dead," he said in his statement.

A case under Section 281 and 106 of the BNS has been registered against the unknown person.

In another incident that happened yesterday in Mukandpur, Surinder Kumari said she was going to her village Jhingra on her scooty and her brother was riding another one. "He was ahead of me for my safety and I was following him. Suddenly, a bike rider came from the wrong side and collided with my brother's bike, leaving him seriously injured," she said.

"He was first taken to the Civil Hospital and then was referred to the PGI where he died," she said.
