2 lives snuffed out in Phagwara road accidents

Phagwara, January 21

A 75-year-old man died after a speeding car hit him near the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road here last night.

The deceased has been identified as Kehar Singh, a resident of Bhularai village. He was crossing the road when the mishap took place.

The body of the deceased was handed over to the family members after post-mortem examination conducted at the Civil Hospital here. The police have registered a case.

In another hit-and-run case, a scooterist died on the spot after a speeding car hit him near Sunrra-Rajputa village on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Rana Ram, a resident of Sunrra village. The mishap took place while he was going to the school on his Activa scooter bearing registration number PB09B6238.

The car driver managed to flee the spot after the mishap. The police handed over the body to the family after an autopsy conducted at the Civil Hospital here.

A case under Sections 279 and 304A of the IPC has been registered against the car driver.
