The Goraya police achieved a major breakthrough by arresting two members of the Sonu Khatri gang, recovering a stolen tractor and a car from their possession.
The gang was reportedly involved in a series of loot and theft incidents in the area and had opened fire at a village lambardar in Mandali, who narrowly escaped. With these arrests, the Goraya police not only breathed a sigh of relief but also managed to crack several pending cases.
Addressing a press conference, DSP, Phillaur, Sarwan Singh Ball stated that under the supervision of SHO, Goraya, Sikandar Singh Virk and chowki in-charge Jang Bahadur, the police team resolved multiple recent cases of robbery and theft in the region. He said a few days ago, a tractor belonging to a farmer from Dusanjh Kalan village was stolen — the act was caught on CCTV footage, showing how the gang executed the theft.
Subsequently, the accused also stole a car, attacked a liquor shop employee, and looted cash and liquor. They further targeted a jeweller’s shop in Dusanjh Kalan.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested Harman Singh of Nasirabad, Kapurthala, and Mansimranjit Singh, alias Sima, of the same village.
The two accused are being interrogated for further leads and raids are ongoing to apprehend their remaining associates.
