Lok Sabha MP Malvinder Singh Kang today laid the foundation stone for the renovation of a library at Baradari Bagh in Nawanshahr. Laying the stone, he said the heritage site of Nawanshahr, Baradari Bagh, would be renovated soon.
He said this library would be equipped with Wi-Fi, new furniture and modern facilities. He said the historical garden, which has a history of about 200 years, would be given a new look. The MP said that MPLAD fund will be use for this work.
"Whatever funds are required to improve the appearance of the garden will be provided. Under this, the buildings, parks, fountains, children's swings, etc. everything will be upgraded. Similarly, the garden will be made beautiful," he added.
Kang further added that Baradari Bagh, which is a witness to the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, has a rich history and it would be preserved as the heritage of the city.
He said this beautiful place spread over about five acres in the city centre was a good place for people to sit and do activities during the morning and evening walks. "It is also a suitable place for children to play. No stone will be left unturned for the continuous maintenance of this heritage place of the city and its development as a centre of tourism," he further said.
He also appreciated the Nawanshahr DC saying that that this work was the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman.
