As many as 21 cows and calves died as due the lintel of Mahant Kaushal Kishore Das Gaushala collapsed on Dhakki Road in Hariana town last night.

According to information provided by people present at the spot, 42 cows and their calves got buried under the roof due to the lintel collapse. Residents started rescue operations.

Veterinary Officer Manmohan Singh Dardi, Veterinary Inspector Ajmer Singh and Veterinary Inspector Parminder Singh also reached the spot with first-aid kits. As many as 21 cows were rescued.

Dr Ravjot Singh, Cabinet Minister, also reached and took stock of the situation and assured people to provide all help. Volunteers Subhash Kumar Shubh, Ravi Kumar Garhdiwal and various social workers rescued some cows with the help of JCB machines. As soon as the incident was reported, the police administration, former MLA Pawan Kumar Adia, Sandeep Singh Sikri, in-charge of Shamchurasi constituency, and Sant Sachidanand from Dera Maghi Ram also reached the spot buried the dead cows.
