Taking strict action against illegal liquor brewing in view of Diwali celebrations, a special operation was conducted under the leadership of Excise Officer Preet Bhupinder Singh here on Friday.

A team of Excise Inspectors Amit Vyas and Ajay Kumar and the Tanda police station Station House Officer conducted the operation.

During the raid, seven cans of illegal liquor containing 245 litres of illicit liquor were seized in Ahiyapur village of Tanda tehsil in Hoshiarpur district. An FIR has been registered against suspects involved in illegal trade of liquor brewing.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
