A special health camp under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme was organized at the Senior Citizen Care Centre on Khera Road. The initiative, led by former Phagwara municipal council president Malkeet Singh Raghbotra, saw 25 senior citizens, all above 70 years of age, receive health insurance cards.
The camp, jointly organized by the Prem Nagar Seva Society and the Senior Citizen Welfare Society, was inaugurated by Sudesh Sharma, president of the Federation of Phagwara Small Industries, who praised the social service efforts of both societies and Raghbotra.
Raghbotra said the cards were issued online and extended his gratitude to Vishva Mitra Sharma, president of the Senior Citizen Welfare Society; Sudhir Sharma, president of Prem Nagar Seva Society; secretary Surinder Pal; and Vandana Sharma for their support.
The Ayushman Bharat card enable a cardholder to avail of free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh at government-empanelled hospitals. Raghbotra assured that more such camps would be organized soon to extend the benefits of the scheme to other eligible individuals.
