The 32nd free dental health fortnight that was organised by Health Department, Kapurthala, from Nov 25 to Dec 9 under the supervision of Dr Jasmeet Kaur Bawa concluded here today. Dr Bawa said: “Healthy teeth are one of the indicators of human well-being.” She emphasised that the oral health was essential to general health at every stage of life and bacteria from the mouth can cause infections in other parts of the body.”
District Dental Health Officer Dr Surinder Mall said during the fortnight a total of 3,250 patients were examined. She further added that 196 free dentures were distributed among elderly, even though a target of 110 dentures had initially been set by the department.
Around 2,300 students were examined during the camp. She said the aim behind conducting the dental check-up fortnight was to generate awareness among masses about the oral health.
District immunization Officer Dr Asha Mangat, Senior Medical officer Dr Tara singh, Dr Gurdev Singh Bhatti, Dr Sukhvinder Kaur, Dr Sonia, Dr Shubhra Singh, Dr Kanwaljit Kaur were also present on the occasion.
