3,535 Varieties of kachori

Jalandhar: In a remarkable display of culinary prowess, the School of Hospitality at GNA University has achieved a monumental feat by creating 3,535 varieties of kachori. The extraordinary record was accomplished through the collaborative efforts of 14 dedicated staff members and 120 enthusiastic students from the School of Hospitality. The endeavour involved the use of 114 different ingredients and seven types of flour, showcasing the diversity and creativity of the culinary team. The notable dignitaries at the event were Gurdeep Singh Sihra, Chancellor and Jasleen Sihra, renowned nutritionist. Others who attended the event were Rajeev Joshi, Deputy District Education Officer (Secondary), Satinderdeep Kaur Dhillon, Principal, Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Mahilpur, and deans and heads of departments of the university.

‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’

Grade IX to XII students of Sanskriti KMV School engaged in an inspirational live viewing of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha 2024’ from Bharat Mandapam, Delhi, addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. From the confines of their classrooms the students eagerly tuned into the virtual event, immersing themselves in an atmosphere of motivation and encouragement. The broadcast was centred on equipping youth with the tools to conquer examination stress and excel academically. The students were especially impressed with the PM’s advice to parents against treating their child’s report card as their visiting card and suggested that students must compete with themselves and not with others. Principal Rachna Monga commended the students for their active engagement and encouraged them to leverage the invaluable insights gained from the session to enhance their academic pursuits.

SD Public Senior Sec School

Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Senior Secondary School made the necessary arrangements to witness ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha 2024’, an initiative undertaken by the CBSE to broadcast a talk by PM Narendra Modi on the agenda of academic and examination-related queries. The event was telecast live on TV as well as on YouTube. Students of Class VI onward along with their teachers watched the live telecast from 11 am to 1 pm. Students who witnessed the telecast gained valuable lessons from the PM’s enriching words. He motivated the students to ‘do hard work smartly’. The programme addressed key questions on examinations and the objective was to create a more joyful and less stressful learning experience for the future nation-builders.

Talk on career development

The alumni committee of School of Management and Institution’s Innovation Council at Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus organised an alumni talk for the students of management to give them an exposure to the corporate world and make them future-ready. An alumnus of the college, Rakesh Kumar, Senior Network Engineer, Prodapt Solutions, Bengaluru, emphasised on the importance of talent acquisition and career development. He shared information on various avenues of jobs as HR analyst, data analyst, marketing analyst, finance analyst and other domains. He laid stress on the importance of three Cs — namely, confidence, courage and competition — as these help grow in life.

Seminar on robotics

Under the leadership of Principal Dr Jagroop Singh and Prince Madaan, Head, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Mehr Chand Polytechnic College, a workshop was organised on the topic of ‘Robotics, Drones, IOT & 3D printers’. Vishal Sharma, Chief Mentor, Innovation Hub and Kanwarpreet Singh, Junior Mentor from Pushpa Gujral Science City, shared their experience in the field with the students. Vishal Sharma shared his experience about IOT and 3D printers with the students and expressed how IOT is becoming the emerging technology in the present IT-based world. He informed about their electronic lab set-up at Science City where the students can get practical exposure and make their innovations true. He told the students to be not just users but developers of technology. Kanwarpreet Singh told the students that robotics and automation are the present and future of technological applications. He spoke about how automation through an embedded system like Raspberry Pi, which in itself is a complete system, leads to increasing the facilities at home, office and in corporate world.

Design Week held

The closing ceremony of the 8th International Design Week was organised at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar. Congratulating Budi Loonen, Senior Art Director of ‘No Tomato’ Ad Agency, the Netherlands, Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra said it was a privilege for the students that they got the opportunity to work with him. Loonen inspired the students to meet the disabled, understand their problems and make models accordingly which can make their life easier. As many as 16 groups of 200 students worked day and night on the theme and presented models. Students Simratpal, Diwanshi, Ishita, Kanchan, Kushal, Neeti, Nitya and Tegbir, who came first, created a model for the visually challenged to recognise colours with fragrance, for example, red colour inspired by the fragrance of rose, and so on. The team of Gurvinder, Anmolpreet, Mannat, Bhavana, Amanpreet, Manpreet, Prabhjot, Raghav, Ishita, Lakshya and Vanshika stood second. They had made a model of shoes for the blind which also had a sensor. This sensor recognises the obstacles on the way and helps them to walk independently. The team of Nandini, Sukoon, Pragati, Harshjeet, Simran, Chirag, Priya, Jasmeet, Nishtha and Anmol, came third. They had created a model of a stick for the paralysed which helps them in walking. It also had sensors that allow the user to get a sense of high and low surface on their path. Apart from this, the students made many other models recognising the problems of Parkinson’s disease, dementia and disability.
