3 accused in lottery shop robbery case arrested

On 2-day police remand

The police have arrested three persons who had recently robbed a lottery shop owner near Shri Devi Talab Mandir, using sharp weapons.

Sanjay Kumar, ACP-North, Jalandhar, said police teams had reached the site promptly after the robbery and had started investigating into the matter.

CCTV footages and other evidences had been collected from the site to establish the identity of all three accused. The video of the incident had gone viral on social media.

The accused Karanjit Singh, alias Nanna, Karan Singh of Kot Baba Deep Singh Nagar and Shubham Narang of Bashirpura have been booked under Sections 304 and 3(5) BNS. The looted cash, along with the weapons used during the crime, have also been recovered. The accused have been presented in the court and the police have obtained their two-day remand.

The police have said the three accused were arrested while they were on to commit another robbery in Gujjapeer of Jalandhar North. Karanjit was reportedly already involved in two other criminal activities in the area. The lottery shop too is learnt to be run illegally by a Ludhiana-based youth. An estimated amount of Rs 9,000 is learnt to have been robbed by the accused from his shop on November 13.
