3 arrested for migrant murder

The police claimed to have cracked the blind murder case of migrant Amar Singh from UP. His body was found in the sugarcane fields at Lidhana Jhikka village in Banga. The police have arrested three accused and recovered sharp-edged weapon, two motorcycles and three mobile phones that were used in committing the crime. TNS

Two arrested for cutting tree

Phagwara: The Phagwara police have arrested two persons on the charge of cutting a tree on the plot of Jaswinder Singh of Sukhchain Nagar, Phagwara. SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said the accused were identified as Rajiv Kumar and his brother Sanjeev Kumar of Jain Mohalla, Phagwara. The police have recovered a datar and a wood cutter from them. OC

Man held for bike theft

Phagwara: On the complaint of Anil Kumar of Hadiabad and technician in Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, the police have arrested a vehicle thief and recovered a stolen motorcycle (PB-36F-8499). The accused was identified as Balwinder Ram of village Samraddi near Phillaur. The accused has reportedly confessed to stealing the bike of the complainant from the parking of the LPU. OC

Two phones, Rs 20,000 stolen

Phagwara: Some thieves stole two mobile phones and cash of Rs 20,000 from the house of a labourer Vikas in Ankhi Nagar, Phagwara on Sunday night. The accused also took away silver bangles of the daughter of the victim.The police have registered a case. OC

Man booked for scooter theft

Phagwara: The Shahkot police have booked an unidentified person for stealing a scooter. Sanjiv Kumar, a resident of Mohalla Bawiayan, Shahkot, complained to the police that an accused stole his scooter from his house on August 11 night. Investigating Officer Balvir Chand said a case under section 303 (2) of the BNS has been registered against the unidentified accused. OC
