Phagwara: The police have booked three youths on the charge of attempting to sexually assault the minor daughter of Suraj Ali of a village in Phagwara. SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said the accused were identified as Hazoora of village Hardasspur and Davinder and Jaggi, both belonged to village Chiherru. Bhatti said the complainant told the police that her daughter went to the fields to graze cattle when Hazoora attempted to rape her. Davinder and Jaggi were his accomplices in the crime. No arrest has been made so far. OC
Dharna against power cuts
Phagwara: Residents of different localities of Phagwara blocked a road against the unannounced power cuts and raised slogans against the PSPCL and the state government on Friday. Despite repeated attempts by the police to pacify the protesters, the dharna continued for several hours which was lifted after the assurance of the PSPCL authorities. OC
Trailer stolen from house
Phagwara: The trailer of a tractor was found stolen from a house in Daddal Mohalla, Phagwara, on Friday morning. Manpreet Singh, the owner of the tractor, told the police that he parked it before his house last night, but the trailer was missing. The police have registered a case. OC
Four of a family booked for fraud
Hoshiarpur: The police have registered a case against four members of a family on the charge of allegedly duping Resham Chand of Arjan Colony, Dasuya, of Rs 15 lakh on the pretext of sending his son to America. He told the police that Sukhwinder, alias Sukha, of Talwandi Chaudhriyan, along with his wife Khushi, brother Sonu and father Prakash Singh, had taken Rs 15 lakh from him but didn’t send his son Neeraj to America. Man held with smuggled liquor
Hoshiarpur: The police arrested a person and recovered 11,250 ml of liquor from him. The accused smuggler has been identified as Jarnail Singh of Badla. A case has been registered against the accused under the Excise Act. OC
Villager held for rape
Phagwara: The Nakodar police have arrested a Tarn Taran village resident on the charges of raping a woman and criminal intimidation. The accused has been identified as Guwinder Singh of Jaurra village under Sarhali police station, Tarn Taran district. OC
Two nabbed for assault
Phagwara: The Bilga police have arrested a father-son duo on the charge of assault, criminal intimidation and rioting. The accused had been identified as Som Pal of Rupe Wal village and his son Manveer. A case under the BNS was registered against the accused and others.
