3 held with heroin, intoxicating tablets in separate police ops

All cases have been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and investigations are underway.
A police team led by Inspector/SHO Avtar Singh was conducting a patrol in the New Abadi area of Nawanshahr when they noticed a young man standing near a link road. According to officials, the suspect became visibly nervous upon seeing the police vehicle and tried to leave the spot hastily.The team stopped the vehicle and apprehended him with the help of accompanying personnel. Upon questioning, the youth identified himself as Gagandeep alias Ravi, a resident of Gali No 01, Musapur Road, New Abadi, Nawanshahr, aged around 20 years.
Police checked an item the accused had thrown into nearby bushes and found a transparent polythene pouch containing heroin. The substance weighed 60 grams, including packing, when measured on an electronic scale available with the police.
A case under the NDPS Act was registered and the accused was taken into custody for further investigation.
In another incident, a police patrol led by ASI Bhushan Lal was conducting checks near Gurdwara Teeri Sahib Bypass, Blachaur, when a young man walking toward the police vehicle suddenly turned back in a suspicious manner. On intercepting him, the team recovered a black polythene pouch he had discarded. The suspect disclosed his identity as Harsdeep Singh alias Gugi, son of Krishan Lal, resident of Ward No. 01, Siyana, Blachaur, aged about 20 years.The polythene bag was found to contain 53 intoxicant tablets (Tramadol Hydrochloride USP 50 mg). The tablets were seized, and a case under Section 22 NDPS Act was registered. The accused was arrested on the spot.
In a separate patrol operation, ASI Baljinder Kumar along with other officials was conducting vehicle checking near Lattian T-Point on GT Road when they noticed a youth standing near the roadside. The suspect panicked upon seeing the police lights and threw a small polythene packet into the grass.
Police apprehended him with the assistance of ASI Ravinder Kumar. The youth identified himself as Mohit Heer, son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Musapur, PS Sadar Banga, aged around 22 years. Despite attempts to include a public witness during the recovery process, no local person agreed to join the proceedings. The police then opened the discarded packet and recovered 3 grams of heroin. A case under relevant NDPS provisions was registered, and the accused was arrested.
