3 involved in snatching incident nabbed
In a swift and coordinated operation conducted under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, the police apprehended three persons involved in a snatching case near Peera Di Jagha, Nehar Pully, on Kapurthala Road. The suspects Sumi Kumar, Karan and Rahul Kumar were caught while riding a scooter with stolen mobile phones and weapons.
Police officials confirmed that the arrest led to the recovery of two stolen smartphones along with a cleaver and a knife. The trio was booked.
Further investigations have revealed that the accused have prior criminal records, particularly related to snatching and theft. Sumi Kumar was previously booked on June 6, 2024. Rahul Kumar also has a history of criminal activity.
The police have presented the arrested persons before the court and secured their custody for further interrogation. “We are now probing their possible involvement in other criminal activities across the city”, police officials said.
Sharma reiterated the police department’s commitment to cracking down on crime and ensuring public safety. “The swift response highlights the Jalandhar police’s vigilance in curbing snatching and related offenses, reinforcing efforts to maintain law and order in the city”, he added.
