Three persons were killed on Tuesday morning in a tragic road accident near mand on the Kapurthala-Jalandhar highway when a speeding bus travelling in the wrong direction collided head-on with a small goods carrier. The impact of the crash was so severe that the smaller vehicle was completely damaged, leaving no chance of survival for its occupants.

The deceased were identified as Kapurthala-based vegetable traders Ishwar Lal and Mukesh, along with the driver Rakesh, all originally hailing from Bihar. According to reports, they were on their way to Jalandhar to purchase fruits and vegetables when the accident occurred.

News of the collision triggered panic in the area, with local residents and relatives of the victims rushing to the scene. Outraged by the incident, they blocked traffic on the Kapurthala-Jalandhar road, demanding strict action against the bus driver.

Police teams arrived promptly to manage the situation and attempted to pacify the protesters, assuring them of a thorough investigation. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, while efforts are underway to trace the bus driver, who fled the spot following the crash.

Meanwhile, grief engulfed the victims’ families, who were seen inconsolable at the scene of the tragedy.
