3 owners of city's famous leather goods outlet booked for late night eatery clash

Realtor's nephew, son were injured in attack/No arrest so far

Five days since a clash had broken out between members of two affluent families of Jalandhar at a restaurant, the city police have registered a case of attempt to murder against three persons.

The clash had occured between the sons of the owner of a top leather goods manufacturer and seller and a realtor. The incident had taken place at 'Notorious', a restaurant and bar.

Manas Malhotra, nephew of Eastwood Village owner Triveni Malhotra, has got an FIR lodged against Tabby Bhatia, Sabby Bhatia, Bunty Chawla and an unknown person. The Bhatias are the owners of a prominent leather outlet Brune and Bareskin in Model Town.

Manas and Divyang, son of Triveni Malhotra, sustained serious injuries following a late-night altercation. The incident occurred after a party that extended beyond 1:30 a.m., during which glass bottles were reportedly thrown at them, causing injuries to their head and nose. Both victims received medical treatment at Global Hospital. The entire episode was captured on CCTV camera.

An FIR has been registered against the accused at Jalandhar Division 4 police station. The accused have been booked under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 117(2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (common intention) of the BNS.

SHO Division No. 4 Anu Palyal said raids were being conducted to nab the accused. "So far, there has been no arrest", she said.

The incident has also exposed the claims while dhabas and roadside eateries face police action for remaining open till late night, certain premium restaurants and bars are not being checked for flouting of the norms. As per the orders, all restaurants and bars can take the last order by 11 am and they have shut down completely by 12 midnight.
