Phillaur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sarwann Singh Ball who is investigating the case said that the accused have been identified as Gurwindar Singh, Gurnam Singh and Sodhi Singh all residents of Jaggo Sangha village under Nurmahal police station.
Rajwindar Kaur wife of Harmik Singh a resident of the same village complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that she paid Rs 20.50 lakhs to the accused for facilitating her migration abroad, but the accused did not send her abroad and not returned the money.
DSP said that a case under section 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
The Shahkot police also booked travel agent Rahul Ludhara of Jalandhar for allegedly duping Sobhta Ranni of Shahkot said SHO Balwindar Singh.
