3 women among four arrested with narcotics in Jalandhar
Jalandhar Police arrested four persons, including three women, and seized 150 Etizolam tablets and 49 Tramadol tablets during a special operation in Phillaur.
The accused were identified as Dharminder Singh, operating an unlicensed medicine shop in Landhra village; Jyoti, Preeti and Monika.
SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh stated that the operation is part of an intensified anti-drug campaign led by the Phillaur Police team.
The police had set up a checkpoint on Wednesday, where they intercepted a van and recovered the drugs.
“The case is concerning due to repeat offenders and an unlicensed chemist distributing prescription medication illegally,” said SSP Khakh.
Jyoti has seven prior cases under the NDPS Act, reflecting her continued involvement in narcotics trafficking.
“This case highlights the changing dynamics of drug trafficking networks, where female operatives are increasingly being used to evade police scrutiny,” added the SSP.
A case has been registered under Sections 22-61-85 of the NDPS Act at Phillaur Police station, and the vehicle used in the crime has been seized.
