4 members of robbery gang arrested, weapons recovered
The police have arrested four members of a gang involved in robbery for the drug supply and recovered drugs, fake and foreign pistols and a bike from them.
Cases have been registered against the accused in various police stations earlier as well. The information was given by SP Major Singh while addressing a press conference in the Police Lines here today.
DSP-Rural Narendra Singh was also with him. He said under the special campaign started by the police, Sadiq Mohammad, alias Anda, a resident of Sataur, and Paramveer Singh, a resident of Milap Nagar, riding on a scooter at the Dallewal turn were arrested and 56 gram of narcotic powder was recovered from them.
During interrogation, the accused told the police that they used to buy drugs from Mukesh Kumar, alias Chandu, a resident of Shankar Nagar, Hoshiarpur, who was also arrested. The accused told the police that they are addicts and to meet their expenses, they supply and consume drugs.
The accused told the police that they used to carry out robbery in connivance with Sarbjit Singh, alias Sabi, a resident of Kantiyan. The SP said the members of the gang used to rob workers in the evening by threatening them with fake pistols and axes. The accused have admitted their involvement in various robbery incidents.
In response to a question, SP Major Singh said after a secret information, the police arrested Sunil Kumar of Talwandi Araiyan, Rajinder Singh, Jayandeep Singh of Baba Bakala, Batala, from village Dhamiya Kalan and recovered drugs from them.
