40th National Eye Donation Fortnight concludes in Hoshiarpur

The Eye Donation Association (Regd.), Hoshiarpur, in collaboration with the District Blindness Control Society, organised the final event of the 40th National Eye Donation Fortnight at Model Town Club, Hoshiarpur.

The event was presided over by Brahm Shankar Jimpa, Cabinet Minister for Local Bodies, Punjab. Dr Ravjot Singh, Civil Surgeon, Hoshiarpur, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while Dr Seema Garg, Executive Civil Surgeon, was present as the Guest of Honour.

The program began with a welcome address by acting president Suresh Kapatia. General Secretary S Baljit Singh presented the annual report, highlighting the various activities undertaken during the fortnight. Patron Prof Bahadur Singh Sunet traced the history and notable achievements of the Association.

Gurpal Singh shared an inspiring story and key facts about eye donation. Brief speeches were also delivered by Harvinder Singh, Prem Saini and Madam Santosh Saini.

The event was graced by several senior members, including Master Mahinder Singh, Prof Bahadur Singh Sidhu, Harbhajan Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Dr Kishori Lal, and others. On this occasion, Varinder Singh Masiti, a State Awardee and dedicated worker, along with other senior members, was honoured for their contributions to the cause.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to spread awareness about eye donation, accompanied by the heartfelt message: “Don’t take your eyes to heaven, heaven knows we need them here.”
