Jalandhar, August 3
A local businessman, identified as Manav Khurana, aged 44, sustained a gunshot wound under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Jawahar Nagar. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, leaving the business community in shock and raising questions about the nature of the injury.
Manav Khurana, who owns a cosmetic shop in Rainak Bazaar, was at home when the incident happened. The bullet struck him in the head, necessitating immediate medical attention. He was swiftly transported to a private hospital, where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The details surrounding the incident are still unclear. The police have suggested that preliminary investigations indicate an accidental discharge of Khurana’s licensed firearm. However, alternative theories have emerged, with some unconfirmed reports suggesting that the gunshot may have been self-inflicted following a family dispute and personal distress.
Aditya, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP-2), Jalandhar, confirmed that the hospital had notified the police about Khurana’s condition. “An initial investigation points towards an accidental firing, but we are awaiting a more comprehensive report of the situation. The victim’s own licensed weapon appears to be involved in the incident,” the ADCP said.
The ADCP said the investigation would advance once Khurana’s condition stabilises and he can give a statement. “Based on his testimony, we will determine the subsequent course of action and decide whether any charges need to be filed in this connection,” Aditya said.
