450 pupils visit police academy in Phillaur

A day-long educational visit to the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur, was organised under the Student Police Cadet (SPC) Scheme to instill values of citizenship, discipline, and character among schoolchildren.

The initiative is a joint effort of the Punjab Police and the Education Department. A total of 450 students from eight districts of Punjab, accompanied by 16 nodal teachers and 16 Saanjh officials, participated in the exposure visit aimed at strengthening trust and cooperation between the police and young citizens.

Special DGP (Community Affairs Division) Gurpreet Kaur Deo underlined the purpose of the SPC Programme, describing it as a bridge between the police and the youth. She said the initiative fosters trust, enhances awareness, and encourages social responsibility among students. The event began with DSP Prabhjot Kaur welcoming the participants and introducing the objectives of the SPC scheme. This was followed by a historical overview of the Punjab Police Academy presented by Ravcharan Singh, consultant at PPA Phillaur, who briefed the students on the academy’s legacy and role in shaping policing in the state.

An interactive session was later held with SP, Cyber Crime, SAS Nagar, Manoj Gorsi, DSP Parminder Singh Brar, DSP Prabhjot Kaur and consultant Ravcharan Singh.
