5 arrested for attempting to kill cop at naka
The Nawanshahr police have arrested five persons for allegedly attempting to kill a police personnel at Kathgarh. A case has been registered in this regard.
An ASI, Kamaljit Singh, posted at Kathgarh in his complaint said that a high-tech naka was laid on Ansro road in Nawanshahr, when they saw a car coming from Ropar side. Five youngsters identified as Jaskaran Kumar, Jagmeet Kumar, Jashandeep Singh, Sanjeev and Baljit Kumar were sitting in the car. All of them are in their 20s and belong to Garhshankar, Hoshiarpur.
“ASI Dhanwant Singh signalled the car driver to stop as he saw the vehicle coming at high speed. The car hit the barricade near the naka, but did not stop as the youngsters asked the driver to not stop and hit the ASI instead,” the police personnel in his complaint said.
The driver hit Dhanwant, who fell on the road and was seriously injured. “He got injuries on his head and was admitted to a hospital. The action shows that they hold no respect for law as they attempted to kill the ASI,” he further added. A case under Section 109, 132, and 221 of the BNS was registered against the accused.
