As many as 50 cases of diarrhoea came to light in Bhim Nagar locality here of which 37 patients have been admitted to a hospital, Purhiran. The mixing of sewage with drinking water is likely to be the reason for the outbreak of the disease.

Their condition was now stable and 13 patients have been sent home after giving medicine from OPD.

A medical camp was organised in Bhim Nagar on Monday where patients suffering from diarrhoea were examined and given medicine and ORS. Three teams, headed by Civil Surgeon, were formed by the Health Department with a total of 21 members, including multipurpose health workers and volunteers, to conduct door-to-door survey and distribute chlorine tablets and ORS.

Civil Surgeon Dr Pawan Kumar said the problem of leakage in sewer pipes at Bhim Nagar had been fixed. He said DC Komal Mittal called a meeting of the senior officials of the Health Department and the MC and issued instructions to them regarding the treatment of patients and to MC officials regarding alternative supply of water.
