50 donate blood at Vajra Corps camp

To mark the platinum jubilee of Vajra Corps, a blood donation camp was organised at Military Hospital, Jalandhar Cantt, today.

More than 50 serving personnel of various units of the Corps in Jalandhar Military Station voluntarily donated blood during the camp. Major General Balwinder Singh, Chief of Staff, Vajra Corps, while interacting with the donors highlighted that blood donation was the noblest and highest form of humanism and how a drop of blood donated could be instrumental in saving lives.

The aim of the blood donation camp was to commemorate the sacrifices of the gallant Vajra Corps soldiers who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the integrity of the nation in various battles on the Western front and maintain the internal security, while the Vajra Corps would be celebrating its platinum jubilee on March 1.

Brig Vembu Anand, Commandant, Military Hospital, Jalandhar, said: “The blood collected during the camp will be specifically used for the welfare of veterans and their next of kin in consonance with the ethos and rich traditions of Vajra Corps known as the ‘Defenders of Punjab’.
