600 cadets take part in NCC’s inter-state training camp
The 2 Punjab NCC Girls Battalion is conducting a 10-day, round-the-clock annual training camp at Lovely Professional University, in which 600 cadets are participating. Col MS Sachdev, Camp Commandant, said 96 cadets of the NCC Directorate had come from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and Chandigarh to the camp and they were participating in the personality development programme. The selection process for the Republic Day camp was underway, he said.
He said 250 cadets of six battalions of the Jalandhar Group were participating in the event. The competitions included drill, cultural competition, firing and written tests. Col Sachdev further said that 200 girl cadets of 2 Punjab Girls Battalion were also a part of the camp for whom many military classes such as drill, map, compass reading, battle drill, battle craft and communication were being conducted. Many central classes were also being conducted at the camp, he said.
Honourary Col Rashmi Mittal, Vice-Chancellor, Lovely Professional University, expressed her happiness over the Army and NCC conducting the camp here. Colonel Vinod Joshi, Commanding Officer, 2 Punjab NCC, conducted a three-hour lecture on personality development and the various methods of commissioning in the armed forces through SSB. The cadets asked him many inquisitive questions. Five ANOs, three GCIs, twenty Indian Army and Air Force inspectors were deployed for conducting the camp.
