7th accused held for attack on Youtuber’s house
In a major breakthrough amid the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the police have made another arrest in connection with the case of attack on Youtuber’s house in Jalandhar, taking the total arrests in this case to seven.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said the Jalandhar Rural Police apprehended an accused identified as Maninder, alias Bobby, a resident of Alichak in Jalandhar, from the Chandigarh airport.
Some individuals had attacked Youtuber and social media influencer Roger Sandhu’s house located in Raipur Rasoolpur village in Jalandhar on the night of March 15 and 16.
Yadav said preliminary investigations have revealed that accused Maninder had arranged weapons and handed these over to accused Rohit Basra, who further provided these to Amritpreet and Dheeraj on March 8 at Jandu Singha. Maninder has been facing multiple cases under the Arms Act, he added.
The DGP said further investigations are ongoing to uncover the full network.
The development came days after the police arrested six accused involved in this case, including Amritpreet Singh, Hardik Kamboj, Dheeraj Kumar, Santosh Kumar, Lachhmi and Rohit Basra. Police teams have also recovered one hand grenade, two .32 bore pistols along with ammunition and three motorcycles from their possession.
SSP Gurmeet Singh said following reliable inputs that accused Maninder expected to arrive at the Chandigarh airport, police teams from Jalandhar Rural immediately dispatched to the Chandigarh and arrested the accused on his arrival.
