8-yr-old raped by neighbour in Kapurthala

An eight-year-old girl has been raped by her neighbour (28) in Kapurthala on the pretext of giving her Rs 10. The victim’s family complained to the police on Saturday that their neighbour identified as Sukhjinder Singh lured their little girl and raped her. An FIR was registered under Sections 65 of the BNS and Section 6 of the POCSO Act on Saturday in this connection.

In her complaint to the police, the victim’s mother alleged that on August 23, her daughter had gone to a nearby house where Sukhjinder Singh of Dhakka Colony lured the girl to his home on the pretext of giving her Rs 10. She alleged that the suspect raped her daughter at his home.

The complainant said her daughter was crying uncontrollably when she returned home. Upon being prodded, she told her mother about what had happened. Sanjeewan Singh, SHO, Kapurthala city police station, said, “The suspect has been arrested for having unnatural sex with minor girl.”
