Punjab Higher Education, Technical Education and Public Relations Minister Harjot Singh Bains inaugurated the new building of Shri Avinash Sood Memorial Government Elementary Smart School, Gokul Nagar, here on Sunday. On the occasion, he said the Punjab Government has allocated around R82 crore for security and cleanliness in government schools, Rs 29.3 crore for WiFi connections, Rs 120.43 crore for the construction of toilets, additional classrooms, laboratories, libraries and other works in schools so that students can get modern education facilities.

Bains said Rs 93.48 crore has been provided under NABARD for classrooms, laboratories and overall scheme, which will greatly benefit the students. He said the Punjab Government is committed to providing international level education to the students of the state and necessary improvements in the infrastructure are being ensured from time to time.

Bains said a provision of Rs 3.25 crore was made during the financial year 2024-25 under the scheme of vocational and skill programmes to help students of government colleges to get jobs.
