9 cell phones, 2 SIMS seized from jail

Nine mobile phones and 10 gm of ICE (crystal methamphetamine) were seized during checking from Modern Jail in Kapurthala on Tuesday.
Four mobile sets were reportedly caught during the search from a gangster group, including a woman. Four mobile phones were found from the washrooms of different barracks. Assistant Superintendent of Jail Avtar Singh said all barracks, including women’s wards, were also checked.
Among those nabbed with the phones was Navdeep Kaur, alias Deep. A mobile was seized from Gurjant Singh, alias Janta, Vishal Kumar, alias Baiya, of Baba Deep Singh Colony, Amritsar, Kheda Bhatia of Jalandhar and Desraj, alias Vicky. Four SIM cards, one adapter and data cable were seized from the stone plate under the bathroom tank. Ear phones too were found from the washroom. A complaint has been lodged with the Kotwali police station.
