93 flood-hit Jalandhar farmers get compensation

Govt also providing wheat seeds free of cost to farmers

Under the government’s ongoing initiative to compensate those affected by floods, Rs 17,31,535 was given to 93 farmers in the district today.

The compensation cheques were handed over at the local SDM office by Lalit Mohan Pathak, Vice-Chairman of the Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training, in the presence of SDM Anamjyot Kaur.

Pathak said the compensation distribution was being given to support farmers whose livelihoods were impacted by floods.

He further said farmers from Saidpur, Burj Tahil Das, Kanoun and nearby areas received compensation cheques during the event. Pathak reiterated the government’s commitment to rehabilitate flood-affected families and farmers.

He added that the government is also providing wheat seeds free of cost to farmers in the flood-hit areas, while farmers from other regions will receive seeds at 50 per cent subsidy. A total of 380 quintals of wheat seeds will be distributed free of cost to affected farmers across the district.
