A step towards greener future
An eco-conscious organisation “Grow Green”, inspired by environmentalist and MP Balbir Singh Seechewal, held a tree plantation drive around the premises of Shiromani Shri Vishwakarma Temple on Banga Road in Phagwara.
The initiative included planting various species of shade-giving and medicinal plants aimed at enhancing local greenery and ecological balance.
The Senior Citizens Council, Court Complex, president Ravinder Singh Panesar marked a personal milestone by planting the 501st sapling on his birthday. He praised the initiative as a meaningful step towards a greener future and urged for consistent efforts in maintaining planted trees.
Addressing the gathering, Pradeep Dhiman, president of Shri Vishwakarma Charitable Hospital Trust and Shri Vishwakarma Dhiman Sabha, lauded the campaign.
“Planting trees by elders, youth and children under the Grow Green banner sets an example for environmental responsibility. Amid growing urbanisation and deforestation, it is imperative to plant more trees,” he said.
He expressed concern over the adverse impact of unchecked tree felling due to increasing population.
