Jalandhar: An annual cultural show ‘Saturnalia’ was organised by children from Classes pre-nursery to Class I at Little Blossoms School. The event commenced with lighting of flame by director Rouhani Kohli and principal Vandana Murria. The programme, based on Indian Cinema Bollywood theme and LBS matinee show, started with ‘Ganesh Vandana’. The message of environmental protection was drawn to the parents by their small children. Children showed their expressions through the performance ‘Kabhi khushi kabhi gham’. The love for the country was expressed through the presentation of ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’. Presenting at ‘Chillar Party’, ‘Sunday bana Funde’, ‘Taare Zameen’, ‘Andaz 70’s’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Rang Barse’, ‘Amchi Mumbai, Manikarnika’, ‘Darna Mana Hai’, ‘Omkara’, the children left their mark on the minds and heart of the parents. The choreography was done by Vivek Aggarwal and the team of the school.
Christmas-decoration contest
Jalandhar: To celebrate and rejoice the advent of Christmas, Mayor World School organised an inter-house Christmas-decoration competition for students of Grade III-V. The students of all houses were allotted different areas to decorate. The participants decorated the Main Atrium, the Splash Pool, the Junior Atrium and the area outside the conference hall. They were given one hour to embellish the expanses in shades and hues of red-the colour of the festive season. The main atrium was decorated by Shakespeare House.The decoration done by Keats House outside the Conference Hall was also captivating. The Splash Pool was given a new look by Wordsworth House. Dickens House used eco-friendly material to give splendid look to the Junior Atrium. The students beautifully festooned the Christmas Tree with bells, stars, multi-coloured ribbons, cards and gifts. The vice-Chairperson Neerza Mayor and the director Sarita Madhok congratulated the winners and commended the endeavours of the participants.
Swachhata ranking ceremony
Phagwara: Pyramid College of Business and Technology has been acknowledged with the 4th rank in the Annual Swachhata Ranking Ceremony ‘Clean and Smart Campus ranking-2019’ by the ministry of HRD. As many as 6,900 institutions, including colleges and universities under UGC/ AICTE from across the country participated. The college has been ranked for its effective solid and liquid waste management. The college was also appreciated by AICTE for execution of ‘One Student One Tree’ initiative by Ramesh Pokhariyal, Minister of Human Resource. The assessment panel lauded the cleanliness of the college campus, well-maintained lush green lawns, besides the bond of the student community with the civil society was also appreciated. The team further assessed the mechanism used by the college in groundwater recharging from rain water and use of solar light for energy efficient resource utilisation on the campus.
Adolescent summit
Jalandhar: Darshan Academy participated in International Adolescent Summit at National Science Centre, New Delhi. The summit formulated a charter for skill-building, safety and well-being to facilitate the adolescent leadership skills for the nation. Students learnt a renewed intellectual and cultural exchange. The topics performed were science exhibition, nukkad natak, yuva parliament, surtaal, rhetoric and on the spot painting. Students of Darshan Academy won meritorious prize, certificate and medals in the event. Trophies were given to the students.
‘Smart kid competition’
Phagwara: Tanishka, a student of Clas VI, of Swami Sant Dass Public School, has got the second position in the classical dance competition and is one of the 18 finalists selected for the grand finale junior ‘Smart Kid Competition’ being organised by a TV channel. Various competitions were held in different cities in which children from all over Punjab participated. After qualifying the first round, the next level was divided into three cities Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar. Under ‘Ludhiana City Finals’ around 200 children participated from Phagwara, Patiala, Bathinda, Ludhiana and Ferozepur. The final was organised at Ishmeet Singh Auditorium, Ludhiana. Tanishka won the award there. Anju Mehta, principal, congratulated the winner and her parents and wished her good luck for future.
Cricket tourney begins
Jalandhar: Sardarni Manjit Kaur Memorial Cricket Tournament started with enthusiasm put in by the girl’s team of HMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School and the Jalandhar District Cricket Association (JDCA) on the Shahpur Campus of the CT Group of Institutions.
